Ahh, how I love the fall season. Nature is full of magnificent colors, the weather is perfect, and farmers' markets are full of delicious locally-grown fruits and veggies. Especially fresh, crispy, and juicy apples. They are one of my favorite seasonal fruits. Highly nutritious and super affordable. There are so many reasons to praise and be thankful to our GOD for all the blessings He gives us!

Truly, autumn is the best time of the year to prepare lovely comforting recipes. Check out this cozy apple cinnamon cake, quick apple cookies, or this wholesome pumpkin smoothie made with homemade applesauce for more vegan fall recipe ideas that use up fresh apples.

    Apple Peanut Butter Smoothie Ingredients

You will need a few simple ingredients you probably already have in your pantry to whip up this apple cinnamon shake:

    • Sweet apple (any variety you have on hand)
    • Rolled/Old fashioned oats
    • Peanut butter (learn how to make homemade peanut butter)
    • Dates
    • Chia seeds
    • Plant-based milk (I used homemade oat milk)
    • Raw walnuts
    • Ground cinnamon

As always, you can find the full recipe with a list of ingredients with measurements in a printable recipe card at the end of this post.

    Time needed: 5 minutes.

How to make an apple smoothie without banana?

    1. Process oats and walnuts first

Start by processing rolled oats and walnuts for a few seconds. If you use a high-powered blender you can skip this step.

    2. Blend all ingredients together

Then add oat milk, diced apple (don't peel it, to get the best out of the apple), peanut butter, pitted dates, and ground cinnamon. Blend until you get a silky smooth consistency.
Taste and add more dates, maple syrup, and agave syrup if you desire.
In the end, you can add a handful of ice to make this apple smoothie extra cool and refreshing.

    3. Serve immediately and enjoy

Pour it out into a glass and serve it immediately. I don't recommend you store this smoothie for later because it changes color due to oxidation. You can top it with homemade granola to make it even more wholesome. Enjoy!

Is apple smoothie good for health?

Of course, this fat-burning apple shake packs an incredible amount of micronutrients that support weight loss and your overall health. It's an excellent source of dietary fiber, antioxidants, plant protein, and healthy unsaturated fats. In addition, this apple date smoothie promotes brain and gut health while protecting you from diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

    Can you blend raw apple?

Yes, fresh apples blend perfectly into smoothies. Simply wash it well with cool running water and remove the core and seeds before placing them into the blender.

Is apple with peanut butter healthy?

Sure, the apple and PB combo is a yummy naturally sweetened snack that's both tasty and nutritious.

    Can you freeze raw apples?

Yes, you can freeze fresh apples without cooking them! You just need to slice them, put them on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper, and freeze them for a few hours or until they are firm to the touch. Then transfer them to a freezer-friendly bag and keep them in the freezer so you can have them on hand whenever you need them.

What fruit can you mix with apple?

Apples pair well with bananas, apricots, lemons, oranges, pears, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, cranberries, plums, figs, and pumpkins.

    Notes

    • Which apple variety should I use? You can use any variety you have on hand! For the best flavor use sweet-tart apples like Fuji, Honeycrisp, Gala, Red Delicious, or Golden Delicious Apple. The taste of the smoothie will depend on the flavor, ripeness, and sweetness of the apple used.
    • I don't peel apples for smoothies since the apple skin contains powerful nutrients, you don't want to miss them out!
    • If you'd like it sweeter use more dates or a tablespoon of maple syrup or agave syrup.
    • If your smoothie is too thick add more plant-based milk or water and blend again until well combined.
    • To make this apple shake extra cool and refreshing you can throw a handful of ice into the glass.
