Watermelon Lime Mint Slushie is the perfect easy summer drink to stay cool on hot days - made with frozen watermelon, fresh mint, tangy lime, and a touch of maple for a naturally sweet and refreshing treat.

No ice needed, just a vibrant beverage that both kids and adults will love!

    Watermelon lime mint slushie.

The watermelon lime mint slushie is one of my favorite ways to enjoy my all-time favorite summer fruit: watermelon!

I enjoy it almost daily, whether sliced, tossed into a watermelon cucumber mint salad, or blended into smoothies like my watermelon banana smoothie or pineapple watermelon smoothie.

So, of course, turning it into a slushie was the next delicious step.

I love how the lime and mint add a fresh zing, and a touch of maple syrup adds a hint of natural sweetness if you like it a bit sweeter.

It's a simple, naturally sweet vegan treat that always hits the spot!

    🍋Ingredients

Organic real fruit ingredients for making homemade slush without alcohol and sugar-free
    • Frozen watermelon: Choose ripe and sweet watermelon for the best flavor (see tips below).
    • Lime juice: Use freshly squeezed lime juice for bright flavor. Lemon juice works well, too.
    • Mint leaves: Adds a cool, fresh flavor. Do not use dried mint.
    • Maple syrup (optional): Sweetens the slushie, especially if your watermelon isn't very sweet. Agave syrup works as a substitute.

As always, you can find the full recipe with a list of ingredients with measurements in a printable recipe card at the end of this post.

    📋Variations

    • Add berries: Toss in frozen strawberries or raspberries for a fruity mix and deeper color.
    • Add cucumber: Blend in a few slices of peeled cucumber for extra hydration and a refreshing twist.
    • Boozy twist: Add a splash of rum or vodka for a refreshing summer cocktail version.
    • Turn it into popsicles: Pour the blended slushie into popsicle molds and freeze for a fun frozen treat.

    💡Marinela's Tips

    • Use ripe, sweet watermelon for the best flavor.
    • If you don't have a high-speed blender, let the frozen watermelon chunks thaw for 1-2 minutes before blending.
    • Don't overblend, stop as soon as the slushie is smooth to keep the perfect icy texture.

    ❓Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

How do I freeze watermelon for the slushie?

Cut watermelon into small cubes, spread them on a baking sheet in one layer, freeze for a few hours, then transfer to a sealed bag for easy use.

Can I use fresh watermelon instead of frozen?

Yes, you can use fresh watermelon, but add ice to get the slushie texture. Frozen watermelon is best kept to keep the flavor vibrant and avoid dilution.

How do I store leftover watermelon lime mint slushie?

It's best enjoyed fresh, but you can freeze leftovers in an airtight container and blend again briefly before serving.

🍉How To Pick a Good Watermelon

    • Look for a uniform shape, whether round or oval, that should feel symmetrical without bumps or dents.
    • Check the field spot (the creamy yellow spot where the watermelon rested on the ground); a darker yellow usually means it's riper and sweeter.
    • Give it a gentle tap; a ripe watermelon sounds deep and hollow, not dull or flat.
    • Feel the weight; heavier watermelons for their size tend to be juicier and sweeter.
    • Avoid melons with soft spots, bruises, or cuts, which can indicate overripeness or damage.
