I love adding this smooth date puree to my coffee or tea, stirring it into oatmeal, or using it anytime I need a natural sweetener.

🥘Ingredients

- Dates: I used Mazafati dates, but any variety works. Make sure they're soft and plump for the best texture and natural sweetness.
- Water: Helps to blend the dates into a smooth, spoonable paste.
As always, you can find the full recipe with a list of ingredients with measurements in a printable recipe card at the end of this post.
🔪How To Make Date Paste

Soak the dates: Pit the dates, then place them in hot water for 10-15 minutes to soften. Drain well.

Blend: Add the soaked dates to a high-speed blender with cold water and blend on high until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.

📋Variations
- Add vanilla: Add ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract while blending for a warm, aromatic twist.
- Cinnamon-spiced: Sprinkle in ¼-½ teaspoon ground cinnamon for a cozy, subtly spiced date paste.
- Nutty date paste: Blend in 1-2 tablespoons of almond or peanut butter for a creamy, nutty version that's great as a spread or in energy balls.
- Make it chocolate: Add 1 teaspoon cocoa powder while blending to create a naturally sweet chocolate date paste.
💡Marinela's Tips
- Soak longer: Soft, plump dates, such as Mazafati or Medjool, yield the creamiest, smoothest paste. However, if your dates are hard, soak them for a longer period to soften before blending.
- Adjust the consistency: If the paste is too thick, add 1 teaspoon of water at a time until you reach your desired consistency.

❓Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
Soaking helps soften the dates for a smooth paste, but if you have a high-speed blender, you can blend the dates directly without soaking.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 months.
