These Flax Seed Crackers are a simple, oil-free, vegan, and gluten-free recipe that makes the perfect crispy snack for everyday snacking and dipping.
Made with no egg and dairy-free ingredients, these easy homemade linseed crackers are crunchy, flavorful, and a wholesome alternative to processed store-bought snacks.
For another crispy homemade option, don't miss my multiseed crackers recipe.

Flax seed crackers are one of my favorite homemade snacks when I want something wholesome, crunchy, and made from just a few real ingredients.
I'm the kind of person who checks every label at the store, which is exactly why I prefer making snacks myself-it's cleaner, more nourishing, and much more cost-effective, just like my red lentil crackers or chickpea flour crackers.
They're nutty from the flax seeds, super crisp, and honestly so easy to keep reaching for. I always make a batch for meal prep because they disappear fast with sweet potato hummus or lentil dip on the side.

🥣How To Make Flaxseed Crackers

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper. Combine flaxseed meal, whole flax seeds, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt in a bowl.

Step 2: Add water and mix until a thick dough forms.

Step 3: On a piece of parchment paper, spread the dough evenly into a thin layer (about ⅛ inch / 3 mm thick). Cut into small squares while the dough is still soft.

Step 4: Transfer the parchment with the crackers onto a baking pan and bake for about 30 minutes, starting to check at 25 minutes, since ovens can vary. Allow them to cool completely for maximum crispiness before serving or storing.

📋Variations
- Spicy: Add a pinch of chili flakes, cayenne pepper, or smoked paprika to the dough.
- Herb flavored: Mix in dried herbs like oregano, rosemary, thyme, or Italian seasoning.
- Cheesy flavor: Add nutritional yeast for a savory, cheesy taste without dairy.
- Seed mix: Stir in sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, or chia seeds for extra texture.
💡Marinela's Tips
- Spread the dough as evenly as possible so the crackers bake uniformly and crisp up properly.
- Thinner crackers will turn out crispier, while slightly thicker ones will have a more hearty crunch.
- If the edges bake faster, simply remove them and return the center pieces to the oven for a few extra minutes.
- Let the crackers cool completely before storing - they continue to crisp up as they cool.
❓Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
Store the crackers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week to keep them crispy.
They may need a few extra minutes in the oven, or they could have been spread too thick. Letting them cool completely also helps them crisp up more.
