Equipment

  • Blender or food processor

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe avocados peeled, cored, and cut into chunks
  • 1 garlic clove minced or finely chopped, or use ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons tahini
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil extra virgin
  • 1 + ½ tablespoons lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon salt plus more to taste

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients (avocados, tahini, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, cumin, and salt) in a blender. Blend until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed.
  • Enjoy your vegan avocado dip immediately with your favorite dippers like vegetables, pita bread, or tortilla chips.

Notes

  • This dip is best enjoyed fresh for its vibrant color and flavor. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. To minimize browning, squeeze some lemon or lime on the surface before storing. Alternatively, you can try pressing a piece of plastic wrap directly on top, but some browning and sticking may occur.
  • Choose ripe avocados that yield slightly to gentle pressure but aren't mushy. To ripen avocados faster, place them in a paper bag with a banana or apple.
  • Use freshly squeezed lemon juice for the brightest flavor.
  • Use a blender or food processor for a smoother and creamier dip.
  • Taste the dip after blending and adjust seasonings like salt, lemon juice, or cumin to your preference.
  • If the dip is too thick, add plant-based milk one tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
  • See the post above for more substitutions, variations, and serving suggestions ideas.
