Apple Peanut Butter Oatmeal Smoothie (No Banana)

Marinela Malcheva
Best Apple Peanut Butter Oatmeal Smoothie ever! No banana or yogurt is needed for this healthy apple pie shake.
Sweet apples, protein-packed rolled oats, creamy peanut butter, fiber-rich chia seeds, heart-healthy walnuts, and a hint of cinnamon are blended together to create a filling breakfast drink that tastes like a dessert.
It's vegan, dairy-free, super easy to make, and full of flavor. You can enjoy it as a light and weight-loss-friendly morning meal, a nourishing post-workout snack, or an afternoon treat treat. You decide!

Equipment

  • 1 high speed blender

Ingredients

  • 1 sweet apple medium-sized, cored, seeded, you can use any variety but sweet yealds the best flavor
  • ¼ cup rolled oats gluten-free if needed, you can use quick oats, as well
  • 1 cup oat milk cold
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter unsweetened
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 2-3 dates pitted
  • 1 tablespoon walnuts raw, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Start by processing rolled oats and walnuts for a few seconds. If you use a high-powered blender you can skip this step.
  • Then add oat milk, diced apple (don't peel it, to get the best out of the apple), chia seeds, peanut butter, pitted dates, and ground cinnamon. Blend until you get a silky smooth consistency. Taste and add more dates if you desire.
  • Pourit out into a glass and serve it immediately. You can top it with homemade granola to make it even more wholesome. Enjoy!

Notes

  • My recommendation is to enjoy this smoothie as soon as you make it for maximum nutrition and taste. If you have any leftovers store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
  • Which apple variety should I use? You can use any variety you have on hand! Sweet and crisp apples like Gala, Fuji, Red Delicious, or Honeycrisp are a wonderful choice. If you want a blend of sweet and tart smoothie mix try using Granny Smith or Pink Lady apple.
  • I don't peel apples for smoothies since the apple skin contains powerful nutrients, you don't want to miss them out!
  • If you love your smoothies on the sweeter side, feel free to add more dates or another sweetener of choice to make it suit your taste.
  • If your smoothie is too thick add more plant-based milk or water and blend again until well combined.
  • To make this apple shake extra cool and refreshing you can throw a handful of ice into the glass.
  • See the post above for more tips, substitutions, and variations.
